ANNE GIFFORD, Fine Artist
Anne began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, she now works with watercolor where she builds successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Boulder since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of Colorado. Her paintings, like a pictorial journal, have chronicled her journey thus far. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery. She relishes the depiction of a magic moment and the evidence she finds of the pulse of life, both past and present. Light, shadows, rocks, water, mountains, canyons, wildlife and whimsy are all part of her subject matter as she brings her own unique vision to her work.
An award winning artist, Anne is the eight time poster artist for the Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She has received commissions to commemorate noteworthy occasions for both the City of Boulder and the 150thAnniversary of Boulder County.
Anne has been a long time artist owner of the Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery, a cornerstone of the arts on the Pearl Street mall for 50 years. She has worked in collaboration with many of the artists in our community to provide this venue in which to feature local art. Anneadditionally enjoys teaching watercolor classes at the East Boulder Senior Center in Boulder.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her long career is that it has provided her with the opportunity to bring joy into the lives of others with her artwork, and that is why she paints.
