Cathy describes herself as being a visual person and studied design, architecture and urban planning at the University of Colorado and worked in this field in New York City. She grew up sewing her own cloths and has always loved creating. Cathy began painting seriously in 2017 and enjoys the challenge of capturing the essence of an object, person, animal or scene. She loves color and the life it brings to the painting and strives to transform subjects and bring them to life in a modern impressionistic style. Cathy works mainly in acrylic but has begun experimenting with oil and playing with sculpture. Recently she and has been painting more often plein air as a way to infuse her work with the color and light of her native Colorado. She will be teaching a Beginning Acrylic Painting series and this fall will also teach two new courses; Farmscapes in October and Skyscapes in November.
