Mosaic Adamento-Saturday Nov 7, 12-4pm

Andamento is the visual flow of a mosaic created by arranging the tesserae (stone, tile and glass) in rows and it creates movement as the pieces weave in specific directions using the same size pieces. This is a hands on workshop where students will cut and nip their materials into specific shapes and experiment on making a flowing design. The objective is to lay the materials so the surface is dimensional. We will be working in the traditional Italian method of a thinset setting bed, no grout. Students will practice the technique and make a sample piece that is 4”x4”. Experience is required for this class.

Materials Needed:

You must already have used wheeled glass nippers and tile nippers and bring them to class. Other tools to bring include, tweezers, dental pick, palette knife, and long handled paint brush. All other supplies and materials are provided. Please wear appropriate clothing as thin set is messy.
