Adults & Teens 15 and over – Minimum 2, maximum 8Prerequisite: This is a series of 3 portrait drawing classes that are offered each month from May through August. It is open to beginners or persons who have had some drawing experience and want further instruction. You may take just the first drawing class or if you have some portrait drawing experience you may take just the two follow up classes. Or you can take all three classes in the group. The series of three classes repeat each month. If for some reason you cannot make some of the dates, contact the instructor for options. • Drawing tips and tricks: (The first date of each month) will cover the basics of drawing a portrait, beginning with composition and learning how to choose a good reference photo. You will learn how to draw the correct proportions of the face, mark making and different methods of transferring images to begin a drawing. Supplies needed will be discussed and tips and tricks for how different effects can be achieved in your drawing.• Starting a portrait: (The second date of each month.) Once reference images have been selected a drawing can be started. Instruction in this class will go more in depth as to how to create details in a portrait, hair, features, shading, etc. • Fine tuning the final portrait: (The third date of each month.) Portraits done well take time, so this class is for finishing up the portrait drawing, if possible. Further instruction will be provided. Bring to class: For the first session, all supplies are provided. You may bring your own supplies as well, but most instruction will be held in pencil and charcoal. If possible, bring three or four reference photos of subjects you would like to draw. Printed copies, please, not just in your phone. If you don’t have a printer, contact the instructor ahead of time and they can be printed for you. A supply list can be provided. Reference photos will also be provided for student’s use if they desire.
