DRAWING WHAT YOU SEE – Tuesdays, 3:00-4:30 pm •Aug 1,8,15,22
August 1 @ 3:00 pm - August 22 @ 4:30 pm
Join master teacher April Christenson for art class! She retired in 2013 with 27 years of teaching art in the public schools. During her years with the public schools her art program won a Kennedy Center National award for excellence in art education. She has continued teaching and now has over 37 years teaching art. April is experienced with students of all ages. Her philosophy is if you can sign your name you can learn to draw and she can show you how!
With a simple pencil, you can learn to draw with April’s techniques and easy tips. April evaluates and creates personalized lessons that fit beginners and returning students. Each week the class has a focus and the techniques and tips learned are backed up with informative handouts and photographs. Students can keep reference materials. This class has a fun, stress free, artistic learning environment. If you are new or a continuing student and want to increase your current knowledge of drawing this class is for you. Drawing is also the stepping stone to better painting. Seeing differently is the key to any great drawing or painting. Give your drawings and paintings more depth, better perspective, and master the secret of lights, darks, and shadows in this class.
Bring to Class: Bring a soft pencil (#2) or a set of graphite pencils and a 9”x12” spiral bound sketchbook to the first class. All returning students bring a couple photo references of any subject to choose from to start a new drawing or bring one you are working on. Please bring photos that are large size around 8×10” or larger. Calendar pictures will also work
