This class, taught by Jeanne Hougen is suitable for teens 16 and up, as well as for adults.

Description:

Do you love color, but struggle with getting clean mixtures? Do you wonder if the colors you are using are creating pleasing compositions? Do you want to gain a better understanding of things like color temperature, and saturation? Then this class is for you! In this 4 week series, you will experiment with color, learn to control your color mixtures without spending hours creating color charts, better understand things like color temperature, saturation, and value; and play with how to use color to create better compositions.

Instructed by oil painter Jeanne Hougen, this class is suitable for painters in all mediums, as more emphasis is placed on learning to use color, and color mixing techniques, than on paint application.

Artists of all skill levels will also benefit from this class, although beginners would receive more help in basic paint application if painting in oils or acrylics. Class sizes are kept small to allow for plenty of one on one instructor to student interaction.

Bring to class: Please bring the supplies that you currently paint with in the medium of your choice, along with a pencil and sketchbook. Colors you will need are white, cadmium yellow light or hansa yellow medium, cadmium red light or Napthol scarlet, quinacridone magenta, ultramarine blue, and pthalo green.
