The Value of Values: Nov 6,13,20,27
November 6 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This class is for adults and teens and meets on Tuesdays.
Value is an art term that refers to how light or dark a color mixture is. The value of seeing, understanding, and using values correctly in your paintings cannot be overemphasized as it is foundational to creating an effective composition. Whether striving for more realism in your paintings, or looking to create more impact in your abstracts, understanding values will go a long way to getting you where you want to go. In this 4 week series you will improve in your ability to accurately see values, and how they relate to your color mixtures. You will understand how to use tools like notan, and other ways to simplify values for maximum impact.
Instructed by Oil painter Jeanne Hougen, this class is suitable for painters in all mediums, as more emphasis is placed on learning to see and use value, than on paint application.
Artists of all skill levels will also benefit from this class, although beginners would receive more help in basic paint application if painting in oils or acrylics. Class sizes are kept small to allow for plenty of one on one instructor to student interaction.
