Debra Bond is a native of Colorado. She has been creating art since sheDebPhoto was a child, drawing and doodling on anything she could get her hands on. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from the University of Denver, and studied calligraphy and bookmaking at the University of Colorado and Naropa University. Debra finds joy in the touch of the paper, pens and other materials she uses. Her love of poetry and literature inspired her work. Learning calligraphy was a way of lovingly crafting words into art for many to enjoy.
Her work has been shown in local galleries, at several Calligraphy Guild shows and has been commissioned by a number of corporations. Her line of hand-made greeting cards can be found locally at the Clutter in Boulder, Particulars Gallery in Lafayette, Willow- An Artisan’s Market in Littleton, Old Friends in Louisville and at Timbalier in Lafayette. They are also available online.
Debra has been teaching journal making and calligraphy workshops to adults and children for many years. She is deeply passionate about art and believes it is critically important to a child’s education. For the past fifteen years, she has volunteered at a local elementary school sharing her love of art with all of the children fortunate enough to work with her.
